3’300 CHF excl. taxesThe young newlywed woman in Amina Benbouchta’s photograph ‘’Qui êtes-vous madame?’’ embodies a confluence of elements including the moment in the 1930’s when Morocco adopted Western customs and attire, such as women wearing white at their wedding which was not the case before the arrival of Westerners in North Africa. As the title suggests, it simultaneously signals how a woman's social status is inextricably linked to her marital status. These are the devices of a system of thought: “How to sell a social position to a young girl?”
